It was reported that some air force men attacked staff and students of
Osun State University. According to the report, the incidence was allegedly
connected to cyber-crime activities of the students, therefore the university
authority has approved that all students of Ipetu-Ijesa Campus of Osun State
University should proceed on one-week break with effect from today, Tuesday,
May 23, 2017.
The break is necessitated by the invasion of the campus and
brutalization of the staff and students by the men of the Nigerian Air Force
Safety Institute, Ipetu-Ijesa.
The airforce
men allegedly invaded the institution armed with guns, cutlasses, daggers and
other dangerous weapons. It was learnt that though the cause of their invasion
is not yet known, some residents said the Air Force men came to arrest some
students, who they claimed were involved in cyber-crime. As a result of the invasion,
not less than eleven students and two staffs sustained injury from the attack.
These airforce men according to report hit gun, cutlasses and sticks without
restraint on anyone they came across.
While the
university is working hard to curtail the crises, the University call on all
stakeholders to maintain peace. Students are expected back on campus on Wednesday
31st May, 2017.
