FG to meet with ASUU Tomorrow Thursday 7th September

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will be holding a crucial meeting with the Federal Government tomorrow Thursday 7th September, 2017.

According to ASUU National President, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, ASUU negotiating team would be at the meeting to hear what the government had done so far in respect to the seven demands tabled for implementation.

He said their expectations at the meeting is that, the Government should give highlight of their demands it had implemented and also give a time frame on the ones that would be implemented subsequently.

When asked if the government had released the N23bn it promised last month to the universities, Ogunyemi said he did not know if it had been done.

According to a top ASUU official, the lecturers rejected the Federal Government’s offer  due to lack of “trust.”

“Lecturers were not comfortable with the Federal Government’s offer because previous promises failed. So, it was better to solve all once and for all, so as not to be deceived again,” the source said.

Expected to be at the meeting is the Ministers of Labour and Education, Chris Ngige and Adamu Adamu respectively.

We hope to hear good news from the meeting.
